25 Truck Drivers Test Positive As 4 More Die Raising Fatalities To 40

The Ministry of Health through CAS Rashid Aman has announced that 23 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 after 1516 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

The 1516 samples bring the total number of samples tested since Kenya registered its first COVID-19 case in March 13th 2020 to 35,432 with more males testing positive compared to females.

The 23 who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours are 21 Kenyans and one Uganda national with ages ranging between 20 years old and an 81-year-old.

The 23 that have newly tested positive for COVID-19 include 17 males and 5 females and are spread out in the country as follows:

Nairobi – 10

Mombasa -8

Kajiado -3

Bomet -1

The 23 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases have brought the total confirmed number of cases in the country to 737 with the number of counties increased to 20 after Bomet has reported its first case.

The ten cases in Nairobi are spread out as follows:

Embakasi -4

Kamkunji -3

Kibra -2

Kenyatta National Hospital Community -1

The eight cases in Mombasa are spread out as follows:

Mvita -7

Nyali-1

The three COVID-19 cases reported in Kajiado county are all coming from Namanga while one is from Bomet.

The Ministry of Health has also announced that Kenya has also registered an increase in the number of recoveries after 22 more people have been discharged raising the number of recoveries in Kenya to 281.

Sadly, Kenya has lost four more lives to COVID-19 after one person has died in Nairobi and three others in Mombasa in the last 24 hours raising fatalities in Kenya to 40 according to Health CAS Rashid Aman.

CAS Rashid Aman has also warned youths of robbing Kenyans in broad daylight under the guise of enforcing the law during this coronavirus pandemic saying the rule of law must be withheld at all times.

“Youths are forcefully demanding money in the neighborhoods that they are cleaning. Respect the intention of the National Hygiene Program. It is unlawful to demand money and they should refrain from such practices,” CAS Rashid Aman has said.

“They cannot act as police and enforce these things. They can encourage the adherence of these measures but they are going too far if they rob them under the pretext of enforcing the govt directives,” Health CAS Rashid Aman.
