Curfew Extended For The Next 21 Days, Cessation of Movement To Take 3 More Weeks

Kenyans who were hoping that President Uhuru Kenyatta was going to suspend the curfew are in for a rude shock as the dusk to dawn curfew has been extended for the next 21 days.

The announcement made by President Uhuru Kenyatta means that Kenyans that Kenyans will still have to adhere to arriving at their residents by 7pm and only allowed to leave by 5am.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has also extended the cessation of movement in the counties of Nairobi, Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale and Mandera for the next 21 days. Kenyans had expected the President to suspend the cessation of movement order as it  was hurting the economy.

There was information that had leaked to the media on Friday that the Head of State was set to suspend the the cessation of movement order.

Following an increase in cases of Covid-19 from Tanzania, and given that President John Pombe Magufuli has failed to announce measures against the virus, Uhuru has closed the border. Tanzanians will no longer be allowed into Kenya apart from those bringing in essential cargo.

Truck driver from Tanzania have been crossing into Kenya and almost all of them have been found positive of Coronavirus. Most of them have been returned to Tanzania but few have found themselves into Kenya through the porous borders.

Going forward, all truck drivers from Tanzania will be tested at the border and only allowed into the country if they test negative. The President says this will help in stopping the spread of Covid-19.

Cases of Covid-19 in Tanzania are currently not known with reports indicating that the cases are above 16,000 but that President John Pombe Magufuli has issued a directive that anybody who will disclose the number will be jailed.
