DCI Nabs Gold Scam Suspect After 100 Days On The Run

It was the proverbial 40 days for Dillion Kibet, a wanted gold scam suspect who has been on the run since February 2020, who was arrested yesterday by DCI officers.

Dillion Kibet is accused of a scam worth 300 million shillings of fake gold and was arrested following information received from members of the public.

The Director of Criminal Investigations Twitter account sent out a message thanking members of the public that read :

“We wish to thank members of the public for availing information that has led to the arrest of Mr. Dillion Kibet who was wanted in connection with 3,000,000 USD Fake Gold Scam,” the tweet by the DCI handle read.

Dillion Kibet is accused of having colluded with Rose Omamo Adhiambo to defraud a foreigner in the trade of fake gold sold at 300 million shillings.

A warranty of arrest was issued in February 2020 by the Milimani law courts but Dillion Kibet and Rose Omamo and other suspects, accused of masterminding the fake gold syndicate went into hiding.

Rose Omamo and Dillion Kibet were also ordered to be arrested together with other suspects accused of having taken part in the syndicate with all arrested except for Rose.

The DCI has thanked members of the public in their assistance to help bring crime suspects to face justice while urging Kenyans to maintain law and order.

Rose Omamo remains at large with the DCI urging anyone who has any information on her whereabouts to present it to the DCI branches.
