KCB Mvita Branch Closes After Employee Tests Positive For COVID-19

KCB Bank has temporarily shut down its Mvita branch in Mombasa after an employee tested positive for the new COVID-19.

The KCB Group CEO Joshua Oigara has confirmed the unfortunate incident of the Mvita branch employee testing positive for COVID-19 saying the premise would be closed for three days.

The three days of the Mvita KCB Bank branch will ensure the premise is disinfected to ensure the safety of the customers that will be seeking services from the branch.

All KCB Mvita branch staff who came into contact with the infected employee are currently undergoing counseling and screening according to Joshua Oigara.

“Our priority remains to safeguard the safety and wellbeing of our staff, customers, and other stakeholders,” said CEO Joshua Oigara.

KCB’s Oigara noted that the bank had already put in place measures to ensure the protection of the bank’s staff and clients in every one of their branches.

“We had already implemented on the guidelines by the Ministry of Health,” said CEO Joshua Oigara said adding that most of their customers have been taking advantage of online services.

KCB has encouraged its customers to access its services using its digital channels including mobile banking, KCB M-Pesa, Vooma, and internet banking to ensure minimal physical contact in a bid to minimize COVID-19 spread across the country.

KCB, which has branches in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, and a representative office in Ethiopia is just but one of the many entities that have been affected by the current COVID-19 outbreak.

KCB employees in Mvita, Mombasa are now scheduled for screening and are currently in quarantine to ensure the safety of their loved ones as they await testing.

The closing of the KCB Mvita branch follows the closing of the Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) Kilifi branch, which closed temporarily closed after one of their staff members was suspected to have coronavirus.
