Tanzania is either very right or very wrong, in the next week the country is expected to welcome tourists aboard Ethiopian, KLM, and Turkish airlines.

Tanzania will be marking a major milestone in the reopening of its economy after a 2-month lockdown that has led to almost a half of the population sliding deeper into poverty.

Tanzania President John Pombe Magufuli directed that hotels and schools reopen in a bid to revive the economy arguing that cases of COVID-19 had greatly reduced in the country.

Addressing Dodoma residents, in the capital of Tanzania, President Magufuli said he no longer saw a need to curtail the economic activities saying hospitals across the country had discharged literally all COVID-19 patients.

Magufuli said the COVID-19 patients in Tanzania who were admitted in various parts of the country had tested negative for the deadly virus and so Tanzania was now more than ready to open its airport to tourists.

“God has heard our prayers. I call upon anyone who has been touched by this to use Friday, Saturday and Sunday to give special thanks to God,” President Magufuli said in Dodoma.

Tanzania stopped announcing its COVID-19 status on the 29th of April 2020 when it did its last with President John Pombe Magufuli being accused of gagging the Tanzanian media.

Tanzania is the first country to reopen schools, hotel and the airport to tourists in East Africa amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and leaves other countries watching on whether the decision will be a positive or negative one for the country.

COVID-19 has so far affected literally every country in the African country which was the last to suffer casualties of the viral infections that began in China before spreading to the rest of the World.

Kenya has been giving updates every 24 hours with the current number of infections detected in the country standing at 1,286 as of 25th May 2020.
