COVID-19 has revisited China a few months after all was known to be getting in control with the infections having emerged from another food market and the government has since locked down nearly half a million of its citizens.

China, where the COVID-19 virus is known to have begun in its Wuhan state, locked Anxin county which is estimated to be 150 kilometers from the capital Beijing to contain a fresh spread of the deadly virus on 28th June 2020.

According to authorities, hundreds have gotten infected with the virus in Hubei Province and Beijing the capital city.

Measures that were enforced at the beginning of the pandemic in Wuhan are now being enforced in Anxin County as authorities term the spread ‘severe and complicated’

Already in Beijing, 14 COVID-19 cases were reported in the last 24 hours according to briefings held on 28th June 2020 bringing the total in the last fortnight to 311 even as millions of civilians have now been subjected to mandatory testing.

What has come to be known as the second phase of COVID-19 in China has been reported to have begun in a food market in Beijing, China, with an estimated third of the positive cases being linked to a beef and mutton market.

The mass testing in China’s Beijing targets restaurant workers, market workers, delivery personnel, and residents of medium and high-risk neighborhoods in a bid to avoid slipping back into the crisis the country is coming from.

People in Beijing are now being urged to stay put and avoid leaving the city at all costs as schools have been closed down again and residential compounds locked.

Some of the strict measures that have been imposed to control the virus spread include that only one person will be allowed out to go buy necessities such as medicines and food and only once a day can the person go out.

The resurgence of COVID-19 in China comes at a time the World is struggling to contain the virus that has spread to literally every corner with strict measures by China leaving one to wonder, is there COVID-19 in Africa and if yes, are Africans not being reckless?
