COVID-19 Update: 123 New Cases, 54 Recoveries, 3 Dead In 24 Hours

Kenya has registered a new 123 COVID-19 cases after 2,112 samples were tested in the last 24 hours rising the total number of confirmed cases to 2,216 according to Health CAS Rashid Aman.

Kenya has now tested a total of 85,058 samples since it recorded its first case of COVID-19 on 13th March 2020 with the number of samples tested beginning to fall.

The 123 positive cases announced by the health CAS Rashid Aman include 90 males and 33 females with the males continuing to be the majority in the positive cases announced.

The 123 COVID-19 cases include the youngest who is an 8-year-old and the oldest being an 84-year-old according to the Health CAS Rashid Aman.

The newly announced 123 COVID-19 cases are spread across the country as follows:

Nairobi -44

Mombasa – 34

Busia – 20

Uasin Gishu – 12

Kajiado -3

Kiambu -3

Nyeri -3

Kilifi -2

Garissa -1

Laikipia -1

The 44 COVID-19 cases spread across Nairobi include 10 cases from Kibra, 9 from Westlands, 4 from Dagorreti, 4 from Embakasi West and three from Embakasi South, Lang’ata three while Ruaraka and Kamkunji have reported one case each.

The 34 COVID-19 cases reported from Mombasa county include 11 from Mvita, 8 from Jomvu, Changamwe 5, Kisauni, and Nyali 3 respectively.

All the 20 COVID-19 cases in Busia county are at the Malaba border point and are of truck drivers while the three cases reported in Kajiado county are also of truck drivers.

Kenya has sadly also registered three more deaths to COVID-19 after three males succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours according to the health CAS.

The three who have died of COVID-19 are a 12-year-old boy, a 41-year-old man, and another 71-year-old man, one from Nyeri county and the other two from Nairobi.

Kenya has also registered the highest number of recoveries since reporting the first case of COVID-19 at 54 bringing the total number of recoveries in Kenya to 553.

“Kenyans have been speculating on the easing of the curfew and other measures and have already begun throwing caution to the air, please stop flirting with danger,” the Health CAS Rashid Aman has said while finishing on a gratitude note to health workers.
