COVID-19 Updates: 127 New Infections, 3 Dead As Kibra Cases Increase

Kenya has registered 127 new COVID-19 cases out of 2,247 samples tested in the last 24 hours bringing the total to 2,989 with CAS Rashid Aman noting that there is a keen need for Kenyans to beware and stick to the set measures.

Health CAS Rashid Aman has noted that Kenya has so far tested 100,683 samples in total since it registered its first COVID-19 case on 13th March 200.

Kenya has sadly registered one of the youngest COVID-19 cases with a 3-week-old infant turning positive for the disease while the eldest is a 72-year-old.

The number of males infected with COVID-19 is higher as has previously been noticed with 89 males testing positive for the viral infection compared to 33 females.

The number of recoveries today has gone down with only 24 being discharged, compared to yesterday’s 97 recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 873.

The 127 COVID-19 cases are comprised of 124 Kenyans  and three foreigners and are distributed across the country as follows:

Nairobi – 62

Mombasa -34

Busia -14

Kiambu -6

Kilifi -4

Machakos -4

Busia -3

Kwale -1

Uasin Gishu -1

The 62 COVID-19 cases in Nairobi county are 21 from Kibra, Westlands -14, Ruai-12, Kamkunji-5,

Lang’ata- 5, Embakasi South and North-1 and Mathare -1.

The 34 COVID-19 cases in Mombasa are spread out with 8 in Mvita, Nyali-7, Changamwe – 6, Jomvu -6, Kisauni -3, and Likoni -3.

Sadly, three more Kenyans have succumbed to COVID-19 raising the total number of fatalities to 88 according to Health CAS Rashid Aman.

72 Health workers have tested positive for COVID-19 in Kenya with the Health CAS urging Kenyans to continually support the Health workers by staying safe to avoid congesting health facilities.

“It is now 12 weeks since the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a global pandemic that the World needed to beware and ready for,” Health CAS Rashid Aman has said noting that the curve in Kenya is rising fast.

Health CAS Rashid Aman has noted that the first eight days of June have revealed a worrying increase in the number of cases as 900 infections have been registered out of 19,401 samples compared to 225 cases registered in May 2020.
