KCSE, KCPE Candidates Likely To Sit Exams In April 2021 – CS Magoha

KCPE and KCSE national exams are set for April 2021 according to Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha but that will be determined by the success of reopening of schools in September 2020 as was directed by His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta

Magoha who has noted that KCSE and KCPE candidates should already be preparing to sit for the national exams by April 2021 was keen to note that whether or not the schools would reopen would be determined by the next two weeks.

“The process is ongoing and I think within two weeks, we shall be able to know whether we open in September, we can still do the KCPE and KCSE exams perhaps sometime in April next year,” CS Magoha said.

“In terms of the examination timetable, for now, we are hoping, after we consulted the parents, that the latest we can do the exams and still escape in April. Beyond April, we must declare what I don’t want to say here,” CS Magoha said seemed to be under pressure from the Senate ad hoc committee to give a tentative date.

Education CS George Magoha told the Senate ad hoc committee chaired by the Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja that the resumption of schools will guide the tentative date for the national exams but if all went according to plan and schools resumed successfully in September 2020, then it was likely that the exams will be done on April 2021.

President Uhuru Kenyatta asked the Education and Health ministries to chart the path towards the reopening of learning institutions with measures to control the spread of COVID-19.

The thought of reopening schools amid increased COVID-19 cases is one that remains unwelcomed among most parents, however.
