Uhuru Abolishes The Presidency, Denies Ruto Powers To Hire Staff

There is a loud storm over paradise. The house of Jubilee is on fire. Smoke is bellowing. People are running helter-skelter and the confusion in unmanageable.

In another shocking move, President Uhuru Kenyatta has issued an Executive Order, abolishing the PRESIDENCY and instead replaced it with the Executive Office of the President.

In the order, Uhuru Kenyatta has placed the office of the Deputy President under the office of the President, stripping the office of the Deputy President’s powers to hire staff. The staff to the office of the DP will henceforth be hired through the head of public service.

By making the office of the Deputy President a department under the office of the President, Uhuru Kenyatta aims at removing the notion that the President and his deputy exist in a “shared PRESIDENCY”.

Politicians leaning towards Deputy President William Ruto have been accusing the President of undermining his deputy who is a “co-president”.

The raging debate right now is whether the President has contravened any provision in the constitution. Lawyers say the move is neither here nor there. That what the President did does not amount to anything.

“The leading legal commentary on the executive order issued today by H.E Uhuru Kenyatta are advanced on Twitter by laymen with zero legal education. The constitution talks of the President, Deputy President…etc. The PRESIDENCY is a constitutional HERESY,” said lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi.

“The PRESIDENCY is an ELEGANT LEGAL FICTION… It never existed… It never will… ” He added.

Here is the order:

What does this mean to the office of the Deputy President? Does this mean that William Ruto no longer has powers under the Executive Order?

David Murathe said the relationship between William Ruto and President Uhuru Kenyatta is irredeemable, that it was dead and gone. Was the man right? What happened between Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto? What happened?
