Who Is To Blame For Thousands Of Pregnant Underage Girls?

The consequence of the school’s closure following COVID-19 is now home with the parents with the consequences most painfully felt by the teenage girls who are to already or soon start experiencing the womb kicks that come with pregnancy.
The statistics of the girls impregnated have forced a conversation in the social media streets with questions on how did we as a country end up here igniting deep conversations that will hopefully save our baby girls from being mothers even before they themselves grow.
One thing is however evident with the numbers released of underage girls who have conceived since the country was faced with COVID-19, something is awfully wrong with our society, the society has become too lenient in avoiding being labeled moral police and our children are not ready to be handed smart gadgets.
As it is, videos and images of minors have been doing rounds on social media, a clear indication that there is very little to salvage among the youngsters with night porn-like virtual events happening at night.
So who is to blame for increased cases of pregnancies among young girls?
There is always somebody to blame, for action takes characters but in the case of underage girls being impregnated, the whole society is to blame.
You see, in a normal African setup, a child belongs to the society, it is the society’s duty to protect and discipline a child but the rain began hitting us when we as parents began trying to change the order of things and refusing for society to play its role in the lives of the children.
The responsibility of a parent to protect a child, however, ought to be a natural one that is developed from the day the child is conceived but unfortunately, that has not been the case hence exposing baby girls and teenagers to defilement.
Cases of parents protecting people who have defiled their daughter in Kenya for money or simply to protect blood relations is not a wonder, it is such parents that create room for the molesters to continue looming the streets and defiling other children.
Technology has had its advantages but it all depends on how well monitored and guided your child will be, most teenagers have already created accounts on various social media platforms oblivious to the kind of danger they place themselves on.
If you have an account on Facebook then you have most likely had strange men of Indian descent calling you via the platform and the kind of requests they make, they are sick and are simply online molesters, something you ought to think about at length before buying your children a smart gadget and leaving it unattended.
As a parent, have that sex talk with your child already or they will learn it from the easily accessible porn sites in Kenya and before you know it, it will be a habit that will not be easy for them to break, that is if ever you get to know at all.
Well, as careful as the parents can be, they also have a responsibility and the easiest party that should have ensured the girls were safe were the men who actually impregnated them, but knowing that the law implementors were corruptible, they defile and ripped away from the innocence of the young girls.
As we digest the reality of thousands of underage girls being pregnant, let us not forget that unprotected sex has worse consequences such as STI’s with HIV/AIDS highly included.
In Nairobi alone, more than 10, 000 underage girls were impregnated which is why we will save you the trouble and list the counties where you should be most careful as for one reason or the other, cases of defilement are high, it could be loose men or corrupt law officers or both:
