278 Test Positive For COVID-19 As Two Die In 24 Hours

Kenya has tested 3,053 samples for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours according to Health CS Mutahi Kagwe and out of those, 278 people have tested positive bringing the viral load in the country to 8,528.

The 3,053 samples tested in the last 24 hours bring the total number of samples tested for COVID-19 in Kenya to 196,508 so far according to Health CS Mutahi Kagwe who spoke in Makueni where he was assessing the County’s preparedness to combat the spread of COVID-19.

According to Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, 89 patients have been discharged from various hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,593 since COVID-19 hit Kenya on 13th March 2020.

“I want to thank our healthcare workers for their dedication and commitment to duty,” CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

“We are now dealing with a virus that is well established at the community level. All counties, except 5, have reported cases of COVID-19,” CS Kagwe has added urging the residents of Makueni to strictly observe the measures to keep the viral load in the county low.

“We have lost two patients COVID-19, bringing our fatality to 169, our heartfelt condolences to the families and friends who have lost their loved ones to COVID-19,” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said in Makueni County.

“We have hired 252 healthcare personnel of all cadres, for Makueni County, to boost human resource capacity, while the process of hiring another 110 is on-going,” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

“I am impressed by the level of preparedness by most areas i visited. Makueni County, in particular, has been extremely organized, and has demonstrated a high standard of readiness to combat COVID-19,” CS Health Mutahi Kagwe has said congratulating Makueni on its high-level of preparedness.
