Cold Season In Kenya To Continue To July 27, 2020

Kenyans will continue experiencing the current cold season to July 27, 2020, according to the Kenya Meteorological Department.

The Department has placed the lowest temperature during this period at 8 degrees celsius and the highest at 25 degrees celsius.

Areas of Nyeri, Murang’a, parts of Nakuru, Kirinyaga, and parts of Trans-Nzoia will be the coldest, at less than 8 degrees celsius.

Tharaka Nithi, parts of Meru, Nyandarua, Nairobi, Kericho, parts of Trans-Nzoia and Kiambu will experience low temperatures of between 8 and 10 degrees celsius.

Kajiado, Machakos, Laikipia, Narok, Bomet, Kisii, Nandi, parts of Taita Taveta, parts of Nyamira, and parts of Migori will have low temperatures of between 10 and 15 degrees celsius.

The temperatures of between 15 and 20 degrees celsius will be registered in Samburu, Kitui, Kwale, parts of Taita Taveta, parts of Marsabit, West Pokot, Siaya, Busia, Kakamega, Bungoma, parts of Migori, and Baringo.

The highest temperatures of between 20 and 25 degrees celsius will be recorded in Turkana, Marsabit, Wajir, Isiolo, Garissa, Tana River, Kilifi, Mombasa, and Lamu.

Kenyans have been encouraged to keep warm during this season by putting on warm clothes to protect themselves against respiratory illnesses as well as pneumonia that is known to spread during this season.

Kenyans are also being encouraged to put on their masks all the time for there is a possibility of the Covid-19 virus spreading more during the cold season than any other season.

On Tuesday, parts of Western Kenya including Bungoma and Kakamega Counties received moderate to heavy rain. Rain in those areas is set to continue in the coming few days.
