Total Covid-19 Cases In Kenya Up To 14,168 After 397 New Cases

397 Kenyans have tested positive of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 14,168.

According to the Ministry of Health, a total of 3,637 samples were tested taking the total number of samples to 249,998.

Of the 397 new cases, 389 are Kenyans while 8 are foreigners. 236 are men while 161 are women. The number of men is still higher than that of women.

Nairobi has recorded the highest number of 239, followed by Kiambu at 33. Machakos County has 27 while Nyeri has 17. Busia, Nakuru, and Mombasa have 16 and 12 respectively.

The counties of Kajiado, Migori, Uasin Gishu, and Kericho have 10, 8, 8, 5 cases respectively while while Laikipia and Narok have 3 cases each. Kisumu, Lamu and Nyandarua have 1 case each.

12 more patients have succumbed to Covid-19 taking the total number of fatalities to 250. On Monday, 4 lost their lives.

At the same time, 642 patients have recovered from the virus and discharged from various hospitals across the country.

Cases have continued to increase, prompting President Uhuru Kenyatta to convene a special summit with county governments at State House on Friday to discuss the way forward.

A section of Kenyans is calling on the President to impose more strict measures to cut down on the spread. The President lifted the cessation of movement on the counties of Nairobi, Mombasa and Mandera on July 6, 2020.
