Uganda’s confirmed Covid-19 recoveries have surpassed the number of total confirmed cases in the country, Ugandans cannot help it but call MOH jokers.

Uganda’s Ministry of Health announced 4 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, pushing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 1,069 as recoveries stand at 1,071 according to data from the ministry.

This Monday announcement meant that more people in Uganda have recovered from COVID-19 than those who actually tested positive of the infection according to MOH data. This additionally means that either Uganda’s MOH is fooling around or there was an error during compiling of this data, Ugandans claim.

Ugandans have raised countless questions of How and what, they cannot understand how people who didn’t test positive of the virus could have recovered from the same virus. Ugandans demand the MOH confirm whether the virus really exists in the country.

In a statement, Dr. Henry Mwebesa, the Director-General Health Services at the Ministry of Health, came to the Ministry’s rescue by saying that the increment in the total recoveries than the cases shouldn’t cause any form of panic within the general public because they are working on rectifying the figures.

Dr. Mwebesa additionally said that the increment in recoveries arrives from the numbers of foreigners from neighboring countries who were admitted to Ugandan hospitals and added to the number of recoveries however, these same patients were not added to the country’s confirmed cases.

“The cumulative recoveries include Ugandans, non-Ugandans and refugees to date but the cumulative confirmed cases are of Ugandans (only) to date,” Dr. Mwebesa said.

Dr. Mwebesa said last month that the foreigners were admitted into care as the Ministry prepared for their repatriation, and once settled into the facility, they chose to complete their treatment in Uganda as opposed to repatriation to their respective countries.

Uganda’s Ministry Of Health looks forward to updating Ugandans more on this confusion as a question from unsatisfied Ugandans continues to mount, the Ministry calls upon the general public to remain calm.

Uganda currently has a total of 141 patients on admission in different referral hospitals across the country. 121 of these are Ugandan nationals, 19 are foreigners while 2 are refugees

The country has so far conducted a total of 247,646 sample tests and with no confirmed deaths from the Coronavirus to date.

Uganda is still under a partial lockdown as some parts of the economy remain closed as directed by the president during his last address. However, President Museveni is set to address his nation this evening to draw more light on the COVID-19 situation in the country and present a way forward.
