The current order of cessation of movement, according to President Uhuru of will come to an end on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at 4 am, a move that will allow Kenyans to move in and out of the said counties.

Kenyans have been calling on President Uhuru Kenyatta to reconsider opening up the borders in an effort to salvage the Kenyan economy that has been hard hit by the spreading pandemic.

Millions of Kenyans have lost jobs as companies struggle to remain afloat. Millions of businesses have also shut down, with millions expected to drift into poverty according to experts.

The pandemic has also seen millions of Kenyans ejected from their houses for failing to pay rent on time. The same survey from Infotrak indicated that at least 63 percent of Kenyans cannot afford to pay rent s a result of the pandemic.

“Coronavirus is an invisible enemy. To confront it, we need to be careful to evade it. We need to stop doing business as normal. These are unusual times and we need to change our mindset,” said President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Uhuru has also promised to support young Kenyans to grow their businesses provided they change their business models. He says he will work to ensure that they find the capital they need.
