Blowing The Weekend Away With Windhoek Beer

It is Friday. And when it is Friday, it is automatically a weekend. And when it is a weekend, for those in Nairobi and other major towns in Kenya such as Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Nakuru, Kitale, Bungoma, you know how life buzzes.

This is a unique weekend in Kenya. It is the first weekend since President Uhuru Kenyatta set most Kenyans free. In fact, the sweetest statement in his speech was “Mnaweza kunywa pombe sasa.” Those who were dying of “thirst” in their living rooms jumped with joy.

Bars and clubs were once again allowed to open their doors to revelers. Curfew hours were changed to start from 11 pm to 4 am enough time for Kenyans “kurusha roho” and rush back to their homes before the police begin roaming the streets.

As life begins to go back to “normal”, there is a drink that should help you squeeze and blow the weekend away. It is actually the best to help you “launch” this first weekend of freedom. Am talking about Windhoek Beer, a premium beer that has a rich history dating back to 1920.

Unlike other beers, Windhoek Beer follows the philosophy of 100 percent pure beer, according to the Germany purity law of brewing by Reinheitsgebot using only three ingredients; water, Hops, and Malted Barley.

The beer is available in Kenya in two brands; Lager that is the icon of quality. It has a more distinct hoppy flavor with a crisp aftertaste owing to a longer brewing period. There is the Draught, also known as The Socialite that is extraordinarily fresh and deliciously smooth.

You can also accompany your cold beer with a pizza, a nyama choma, a red cake or any meal of your choice, provided the beer next to you is Windhoek.
