727 Test Positive, 17 Kick The Bucket In 24 Hours In Kenya

727 people tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday from a sample size of 4,913 tested in 24 hours, bringing to 78,512 the number of confirmed positive cases in the country.  From the cases, 705 are Kenyans while 22 are foreigners

Nairobi had 306 cases, Kiambu 122, Kitui 38, Uasin Gishu 33, Kajiado 27, Machakos 25, Muranga 22, Busia 21, Mombasa 19, Garissa 17, Turkana 17, Kisumu 14, Kilifi 13, Nyeri 8, Nakuru 7, Kirinyaga 6, Kwale 6, Baringo 5, Embu 4… West Pokot 4 Siaya 4, Isiolo 3, Kisii 3, Makueni 2 and Mandera 1.

According to the MOH, 806 patients have recovered from the disease, 701 from the Home-Based Care Program, while 105 have been discharged from various hospitals. The total number of recoveries in the country now stands at 52,709.

The Ministry Of Health added that another 17 patients succumbed to the disease bringing the country’s total number of fatalities to 1,409.

Additionally, there are 1,196 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 7,139 are on Home Based Isolation and Care. 51 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 29 of whom are on ventilatory support, and 18 on supplemental oxygen.

Another 106 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen out of whom 94 are in the general wards. 12 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

“We MUST strictly adhere to the containment measures that the Ministry of Health has issued since this pandemic struck us in March this year if we have to bring the positivity rate down” Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, CAS Health.

Meanwhile, the AstraZeneca is a vaccine developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca Plc prevented a majority of people from getting the disease, an average of 70 percent of participants in a study from falling ill, an early analysis of the data shows.

The head of AstraZeneca in France, Olivier Nataf said they will be producing three billion doses worldwide in 2021. He added that production is ramping up, there are already 50 million doses of active substances available and capacity is being increased almost weekly.
