Beverley Spencer-Obatoyinbo Steps Down As BAT Kenya MD

BAT Kenya has announced that Mrs. Beverley Spencer-Obatoyinbo will be stepping down as the Managing Director from January 1, 2020, after serving the company at the helm for a period of four years.

“After four years with our MD Beverley Spencer-Obatoyinbo at the helm, we would like to announce that she will be stepping down at the end of this year and thank her for her significant contribution to BAT Kenya,” said the company in a statement.

“Beverley has transformed our business and leaves a legacy of energizing and inclusive leadership. Under her tenure, we were able to put BAT Kenya on the manufacturing and Top Employer map,” BAT added.

Mrs. Spencer will, however, expected to continue serving BAT in an advisory capacity to ensure a smooth transition in leadership according to the company.

At the same time, BAT Kenya has appointed Mr. Crispin Achola as the new Managing Director, taking over the helm at the time the company is diversifying its business model both within and without the country.

Mr. Achola worked for BAT from 1999 to 2017 holding senior roles within BAT Kenya and the Group including the Managing Director for Mozambique. He has also served as the Cluster General Manager for Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe, and Malawi and as the Managing Director for BAT Sudan.

In his latest assignment, Achola worked as the West, East, and Central Africa General Manager for the Kimberly-Clark Corporation.
