OPPO Reno5 F has hit the Kenyan markets. It is the direct successor to last year’s OPPO Reno4 F, and is the most affordable variant of the Reno 5 series among the OPPO Reno5 Pro and OPPO Reno5 4G/5G models.
Being the cheaper model in the series doesn’t mean there is anything to scoff at, thus, anyone looking for a mid-range product packing a lot of features and an innovative design should consider the Reno5 F.
OPPO Reno5 F is almost entirely like Reno5 in terms of features and specifications, including the screen type and size, battery capacity, RAM, and internal storage. However, they are differentiated by the screen refresh rate, screen protection, processor, cameras, and charging speed, among others.

Featuring OPPO’s Flowing Light Design, the device gently diffuses light and shadow through a soft but vibrant color gradient for a unique and original look.
The phones also incorporate a 7.88mm slim body, and it weighs only 172g. The back panels come in a 3D curved design and at the front, you get a 6.43 inches Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 2400 px resolution that boasts of a 90.8% screen to body ratio. Reno5 F also comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner with new, faster technology, thanks to the AMOLED screen. The screen has a 60Hz refresh rate, which is ideal for most tasks including heavy gaming.
Performance
Oppo Reno5 F runs on Android 11 based on ColorOS v11.1. It is powered by MediaTek Helio P95, a high-powered core processor ideal for multitasking. Coupled with the 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage, the large screen, and the high refresh rate, you can’t expect anything less than smooth performance. Add that to OPPO’s innovative System Performance Optimizer, and you have a phone that promises a smoother, more responsive experience that won’t slow down even after extended use.
With the Helio P95 processor, you can play different types of games while seamlessly switching between apps. From Cover Fire, Angry Birds 2 to the Rise of Empires, the performance is top-notch. Better yet, with OPPO’s Game Mode feature, you can avoid distractions for a more immersive experience. Any high-frequency gamer will also love the Gaming Shortcut Mode which reserves memory space to prevent games from taking long periods to load.
Beyond gaming, the large internal memory can also be expanded up to 256GB, which is almost unnecessary since you have enough space to store gaming data, multimedia files, documents, among others.
Camera
Like the other models in the Reno 5 series, OPPO Reno5 F comes with a 48MP quad lens AI-assisted camera ideal for capturing all of life’s moments. From macro to ultra-wide-angle and zoom shots, Reno5 F displays life’s journey in vibrant, crystal-clear detail. Being a quad-camera, it includes an 8MP ultra-wide lens, 2MP macro lens, and 2 MP mono lens. The front features a punch-hole on the screen housing a 32 MP selfie camera.
To make your photography even more interesting, OPPO included several modes to help you picture and capture more detail in your photos and videos. With the AI Scene Enhancement, you can bring out the beautiful in anything. This mode automatically recognizes 20 kinds of scenes and enhances color and saturation for each one. From signature dishes to beautiful landscapes, you can make each image more exciting and wonderful.
Other modes like the Dynamic Bokeh and the Night Flare Portrait also enable you to set dazzling backgrounds and capture pictures that make your subjects conspicuous creating a romantic ambiance with brilliant colors and beautiful effects.
Moreover, the Reno5 F comes with an AI Color Portrait Video that intelligently highlights your subject’s natural colors while turning the background black and white, creating amazing shots that allow anyone to be the center of attention. And if you want to be seen more, you can turn on the Monochrome video, highlight your favorite colors to retain a selected hue, and create stunning videos. If you are a video blogger, you will love the Dual-View Video feature that allows you to experience yourself as you capture the moment. This mode makes it possible to simultaneously record yourself and the action around you.
Battery, Audio, and Connectivity
OPPO Reno5 F sports a 4,310mAh battery capacity powered through a USB-C (Type-C) port. The power brick supports 30W VOOC Flash Charge 4.0. With a charge of 5 minutes, you get up to up to 3.2 hours of talk time, 1 hour of Instagram, or 2.9 hours of YouTube. The device charges from 0 to 100% in just under 1 hour.
Better yet, OPPO Reno5 F’s battery comes with All-Day Smart Power Saving Modes. With Super Power Saving Mode turned on and only 5% battery power, you can still make calls for more than 1 hour. And while you sleep, the Super Nighttime Standby mode keeps the battery use at a minimum. It is also worth noting that the phone’s software also regulates how the battery charges to prevent its damage thereby promoting its lifespan. In terms of connectivity, OPPO Reno5 F is available in 4G.
The phone boasts a cavity-design single loudspeaker and Real HD sound based on Dirac. The speaker is loud and decent enough for most of your needs. There is also support for FM Radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
