"In the period under review, the price of Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene remains unchanged," said Epra in a statement. This means that the government has decided to continue with the cushioning of Kenyans through subsidies.

After Kenyans raising concerns over plans to increase the price of Super Petrol by more than 3 shillings to hit 130 shillings per liter, Energy Petroleum and Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has relived Kenyans by retaining the price of fuel.

“In the period under review, the price of Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene remains unchanged,” said Epra in a statement. This means that the government has decided to continue with the cushioning of Kenyans through subsidies.

The average landed cost of Super Petrol increased by 4.83 percent from 496.10 dollars per cubic meter in May 2021 to 520.04 dollars per cubic meter in June 2021. The landed cost of Diesel increased by 3.69 percent. Kerosene was not ordered during the month.

At the same time, Epra noted that the Free On Board price of Murban crude oil lifted in June 2021 was posted at 63.35 dollars per barrel, a decrease of 6.44 percent from 67.71 dollars per barrel during the month of May.

The shilling has been under stretch from the US Dollar. During the month of June, the local currency depreciated by 0.20 percent from 107.61 shillings per dollar to 107.82 shillings per dollar. It is, however, still resilient.
