Following the advertisement for recruitment of teachers on permanent and pensionable terms, Boards of Management are required to conduct the selection exercise for the advertised vacancy (ies) in their institutions.

Interns have a reason to smile as Teacher Service Commission (TSC) awarded them 30 marks advantage in the ongoing recruitment drive.

According to the new TSC score sheet released that will be used as a guide in the recruitment in July, the Commission gave a directive that thirty marks be awarded to applicants who provide evidence of having served as interns.

In 2020 TSC did not automatically take up intern teachers instead they had awarded them ten marks for serving as interns.

This means that some were to be locked out as they were not able to compete with other candidates favorably because they had the advantage of having graduated earlier and as well as the quality of their academic certificates.

This forced the interns to work for another year for the Commission after they failed to be recruited on permanent and pensionable terms. However, TSC managed to renew their contracts who did not get employed for another year.
