TSC Will Not Employ P1 And ECDE Teachers Without A Diploma

Unemployed and employed P1 and ECDE teachers are set to begin their training for diploma courses that will enable them to march the changes that the new Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) will bring.

Those who wish to be considered for admission in Teachers Training Colleges for upgrading from certificate and ECDE and Primary Teacher Education (PTE) to Diploma in Early Childhood Teachers Education (DPTE) respectively are invited to apply.

The combined upgrade program is set to begin when the school calendar has been normalized following the disruption that was caused by Covid-19. The way the training will be done and the time it will take for teachers to undergo the training are yet to be revealed.

According to Principal Secretary Julius Juan, the training that the teachers will attend will be an induction and not a strict regular exam. This means that teachers who will participate in the induction have been guaranteed a pass.

The forms can be downloaded from the ministry office or hard copies in the County Directors of Education at no cost.

From Thursday 29^th July to 13^th August, dully filled applicants should be submitted to the Sub-County Director Education Officer by the applicants in person. Those with special needs are also encouraged to apply.

Double registration will lead to automatic disqualification and candidates are advised to register in only one center. The letter of the officer will stipulate the fee and other requirements.

Requirements For Upgrading To Diploma In Early Childhood Teachers Education

1. The applicants must possess a valid ECDE certificate
2. You must be a registered TSC
3. The duration of the course shall be 1890 hours
4. The course shall be fully residential
5. The trainees shall take a teaching practicum of 300 hours
6. The trainee shall take all courses specified in the upgrading program
7. Applicants shall be required evidence of adherence to positive moral values and good behavior.
