The six police officers accused of killing two brothers in Embu have finally been presented to the court after being arrested on Monday. The six were arrested after the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) ordered for their “immediate arrest.”

They were presented at Milimani Law Courts this morning.

The six police officers are accused of killing Benson Njiru and Emmanuel Mutura after they arrested them for allegedly flouting the Covid-19 curfew directive.

The six are:

  1. Lilian Cherono
  2. Martin Wanyama
  3. Benson Mbuthia
  4. Nicholas Sang
  5. James Mwaniki
  6. Consolata Njeri

The killing of the two young brothers elicited emotions among Kenyans who have been calling for justice to be served. On Monday, the Inspector General of Police had a had time explaining to Kenyans why the officers were still walking free.

The family of the two brothers is being represented by the Law Society of Kenya led by Nelson Havi, the President of LSK who has vowed to ensure that justice is served. At the same time, President Uhuru Kenyatta has directed senior officers to ensure that justice is served.
