Uhuru Kenyatta Marks His Last Mashujaa Day As President Today

BY Juma · October 20, 2021 07:10 am

KEY POINTS

Today is the last Mashujaa Day for Uhuru Kenyatta. Kenyans expect him to lift the curfew.

Time flies. Huh. It really flies. It waits for no man. If there is someone who can feel this phrase right now, is the Son of Jomo. His time is up.

The Son of Jomo has been the President of the Republic of Kenya for almost 10 years now. He has less than a year to leave the House on the Hill.

Some say he did not want to be President. That he was forced. Sometimes he admitted this but there is nothing we can do. Of importance is that his time is up.

Today, October 20, 2021, the Son of Jomo is marking his last Mashujaa Day. Unless he refuses to leave, this is his last. So, what do you expect from him today?

There is no doubt that his speech will be punctuated with so many “my fellow Kenyans”. But what are you looking forward to? Lifting of the curfew? Usual rhetoric about corruption?

Of course, Kenyans what him to lift the useless curfew right now. The curfew has given our police the right to kill innocent Kenyans like the Kianjokoma Brothers. The curfew has distinguished between the poor and the rich. We want it gone.

How about corruption? Truth is, this has been the most corrupt regime. The Jubilee government has looted this country with impunity. They have stolen almost everything including Covid-19 funds. But there is nothing we can do.

Will he talk about the Pandora Papers? Maybe. Let us dream on. He will not. How can he stand and say that his family has hidden trillion of shillings abroad? Even his mum will slap him. Out of the question.

He will also be sharing a podium with his Deputy. Will they hug? Will they share small talk? What will they say to each other? Will they go for each other’s necks? Time will tell.

As for you Dear Kenyan, know that this is the season of madness. Every politician is mad right now. Try to be sane. Happy Mashujaa Day ahead.
