Zambia Has Lifted All Covid-19 Restrictions

Zambia has lifted all the Covid-19 restrictions that have been in place since 2020 in an effort to revive the ailing economy.

The poor landlocked country has at least 18 million people with only 3 percent of the population is fully vaccinated.

The government has now allowed public gatherings, gatherings in places of worship, and the opening of bars and restaurants without restrictions.

The new government in place has promised Zambians a robust economic recovery by making the environment friendly for investments and fighting corruption.

Many Zambians have welcomed the lifting of the restrictions saying it will help revive the economy and help in creating jobs.

“Following the reduced transmission of Covid-19 in Zambia, the government has decided to lift restrictions,” said Health Minister Sylvia Masebo.

Kenya

In Kenya, the Covid-19 restrictions are still in place. The current measures are supposed to come to an end on October 18, 2021, after which the government is expected to announce new ones.

Currently, the curfew that has been in place for more than a year runs from 10 pm to 4 am. Bars and restaurants are expected to close their business at 7 pm.

Kenyans have questioned the role of the curfew in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and have called on the government to do away with it.

The irony is, Covid-19 restrictions in Kenya seem to only apply against the poor but not the rich politicians who are holding huge political rallies all over.
