Isuzu’s Commits to Growing Local Tourism Through Tembea Tujenge Kenya

KEY POINTS
Urging Kenyans to come out and spend money on holidays in our own country, Kenya, is one of the fastest ways to begin propping up the tourism industry.
Ecotourism plays a huge role in Kenya’s hospitality industry. And particularly now that the country is still reeling from the effects of the Covid-19, domestic tourism is an important means of filling the void left by the crisis.
Urging Kenyans to come out and spend money on holidays in our own country, Kenya, is one of the fastest ways to begin propping up the tourism industry.
This is the drive behind the Tembea Tujenge Kenya, to which Isuzu East Africa actively plays a huge role in its facilitation.
With tourism playing such a huge role in Kenya’s economy, Isuzu East Africa has prioritized urgent action to support the initiative, both financially and in transport capacity to ensure that Kenya transitions into a sustainable future.
The move is a long-term concept, bound to keep running for the next 3 years. It aims at creating and maintaining employment opportunities across the various counties, improving economic growth through the buy Kenya build Kenya initiative, sustaining tourism growth and development that leads to a sustainable and inclusive sector.
Through Isuzu East Africa’s sponsorship, Tembea Tujenge Kenya has opened up the economy and boosted the travel and tours experience among Kenyans.

This has spurred the re-awakening of the sector and the initiative’s efforts are starting to bear fruit. More economic activities in the hospitality industry are bound to be realized, which will create more jobs and opportunities for Kenyans.
Through domestic tourism, Kenya stands a chance of ending over-reliance on foreign tourism, which is subject to global impacts. During the coronavirus pandemic, for instance, the tourism industry was one of the hard-hit sectors after global countries shut their borders to curb the spread of the virus.
By June 2020, the industry had lost up to 80 billion shillings since the outbreak of COVID-19.
Kenya received 14,049 tourists in August, the first month after the resumption of international and domestic flights compared to 159,804 international arrivals in a similar period last year. Through local tourism, the sector is primed for growth. The experiences shared will attract more visitors, both locally and internationally.
The good thing is, the abundance of places to visit in Kenya provides limitless opportunities for other Kenyans to trade down the same path for thrilling experiences and enjoyment.
You can also be a part of this team as they visit Turkana County this weekend (November 12 to 14). There is a ton of places to visit including the Turkana Museum, Koobi Fora (the paleontological site whose findings include extinct creatures, human fossils and stone tools), Nasolot National Reserve and more.
Thereafter, just like the Tembea Tujenge Kenya team, you can share details of the places, which include where to find affordable rates for accommodation, activities to partake, and the routes to take to help other Kenyan enjoy the same experience.
Thankfully, Isuzu also offers two perfect vehicles for such excursions – the Isuzu D-MAX or MU-X.
The two vehicles, ever since the inception of this domestic tourism program have earned a reputation among drivers looking for reliable rides for adventure-filled road trips. And with plenty of bushlands, Savannahs, endless tarmac strips, cloudy paths, and rocky hills, there is plenty of places to visit and put these Isuzu vehicles to test.
