She went ahead to list the steps which the government has been following to ensure successful implementation of the Integrated Development Goals (SDG) model.

“We have been very methodical about it. I have set up a national task force that is identifying and prioritizing the next set of investments that will be undertaken in water and sanitization,” she said.

Sicily Kariuki noted that the government has also pioneered in technologies to facilitate efficiency in the utilization of water and further urged citizens to use water responsibly.

“We are rehabilitating and carrying out civic education so that people improve on their behavior. It is your business to mind water infrastructure,” she said.

Moreover, concerning the issue of high electric water bills, the CS said that they are working to oversee a 30% decrease in cost while relying on renewable energy sources.

“When the directive to bring down electricity cost by about 30% is fulfilled, there will be a reduction on water bills. Also, we are moving away from powering boreholes using electricity to solar energy,” said the CS.
