SuperSport viewers on DStv and GOtv can look forward to extended action from the Premier League, La Liga, and Serie A.

DStv and GOtv are the only true home of football in Africa, offering a range and depth of action that no other rival can match – it’s literally ‘Unbeatable Football’! If you’re going to spend your money on something, it may as well be on the best football in the world.

The top clash from the Premier League this weekend is the Manchester derby between United and City from Old Trafford in the early afternoon of Saturday 6 November. Always a heated showdown, this battle will have even more tension than usual as the Red Devils look to claim the scalp of the current champions to renew flagging hopes that they can challenge for the title.

Yet the Citizens have looked one of the most capable teams in the Premier League this season and manager Pep Guardiola will expect them to assert themselves at the ‘Theatre of Dreams. “[The Manchester derby] is always a difficult, complicated game,” said the Man City boss. “United have such great quality, players who can change the game so quickly, but we also have our own strengths. It will be a fantastic game.”

Aside from the Mancunian battle, the weekend also features Chelsea and Liverpool hoping to take advantage of any points dropped by their rivals. The Blues will play host to Burnley on Saturday afternoon, while the Reds will face a tricky trip to West Ham United on Sunday evening, with Hammers boss David Moyes hoping to complete a Merseyside double after recently leading his team to victory over Everton.

“This is as good as I’ve had. This is right up there,” Moyes said of his West Ham team. “By the time I reached year 10 at Everton, I had real quality players, international players, and a balance with a team who understood me. But in year two at Everton, I didn’t have the same quality of player as I have now at West Ham. I think the football we are playing at the moment is right up there. Yes, there have been one or two blips, but we’ve played some really good football, we look exciting.”

Other games to watch out for include a Friday-night round opener between Southampton and Aston Villa, Arsenal hosting Watford, Everton tackling Tottenham Hotspur at Goodison Park, and Leeds United looking to claim the scalp of Leicester City.

SuperSport is also the only place to get English commentary on the legendary La Liga, where the top match for this round is the ‘Derbi Sevillano’ or The Great Derby between Real Betis and Sevilla from Estadio Benito Villamarin.

While Sevilla looks like title dark horses this season, Betis have struggled for consistency and will want to get themselves back on the path to a place in European football. Los Nervionenses manager Julen Lopetegui has played down his side’s status as contenders for the championship, insisting that the season is still young and that Sevilla are but one of several teams jostling for position in the upper reaches of the log.

“The feeling is that we’re starting to compete, starting to feel the complexity of the competition,” said Lopetegui. “I think [the race for the top four] is very open. There are teams that have consolidated a very good squad and have improved a lot, as is the case with Villarreal and Real Sociedad. I think Betis has built a very interesting squad, while Valencia has retained their most important players and have shown the ability to be able to compete.”

Another derby on the card sees Real Madrid welcome Rayo Vallecano to Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. Los Vallecanos has enjoyed a fine season thus far and manager Andoni Iraola is hoping his team can continue to punch above their weight.

“I love the attitude of my team,” said Iraola. “We respect all our opponents, but we have no fear for them. We will fight for our own pride and to represent our club and our supporters. This is all we can ask of ourselves.”

La Liga champions Atletico Madrid face a tricky trip to Estadio de Mestalla to take on Valencia, with Los Che hoping to claim a major scalp and rebuild the momentum they enjoyed in the early weeks of the season, while Barcelona will also face a test when they take on Celta Vigo at Abanca Balaidos.

Barca will again look to Dutch attacker Memphis Depay for inspiration, with the former Manchester United and Olympique Lyon man insisting that he has no regrets over joining the Catalan giants in their current difficult phase: “How could you ask that? It’s Barcelona. I don’t think you understand how big this club is and what it means for a player if you move to a club like this. I would never regret it,” said Memphis.

Italy’s top clash from Round 12 is the Milan derby, also known as the ‘Derby Della Madonnina’, between AC Milan and Internazionale from the San Siro on the evening of Sunday 7 November. The ‘Derby Della Madonnina’ name is in honor of one of the main sights in the city of Milan, the statue of the Virgin Mary on the top of the Duomo (Milan Cathedral), which is often referred to as the Madonnina (‘Little Madonna’).

This game will see two of Italy’s great clubs – as well as Scudetto rivals for this very season – battle for three key points as they look to keep pace with Napoli and other heavyweights in the race for the title.

“We have to play to win every single game, we played with quality and energy,” said Milan manager Stefano Pioli. “It means we are growing. Is Tonali talking about the Scudetto? It’s right that the guys ride this dream, at every game we have the chance to show that we can compete.”

With one of both of the Milan clubs set to drop points, Napoli will hope to capitalize and claim all three on offer when they host Verona at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Sunday evening. One of the driving forces behind the Neapolitans’ rise to become true title contenders has been the form of Cameroonian Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, with manager Luciano Spalletti praising the Cameroon international.

“He is a top player, he does everything, but he must improve his finishing and the final pass. You win games when you have the right players and serious professionals, he is the right person for this dressing room,” said Spalletti.

Other games to watch out for in Italy this weekend are a Friday-night round-opener between Empoli and Genoa, Juventus tackling Fiorentina in Turin on Saturday, and Roma looking to iron out their inconsistencies on the road when they visit Stadio Pierluigi Penzo to take on hosts Venezia.
