Tabitha Karanja, The Entrepreneurial Queen With A Taste For Politics

KEY POINTS
Tabitha's inspiration to run for Senate has emanated from the will to eliminate the structural and legal obstacles that hinder all girls’ and women’s participation in politics and decision-making and hold those obstructing them accountable
The political terrain in Africa has for long been considered too rough to navigate for women. Many have tried their hand in politics, but the domineering male counterparts have often carried the day.
Power and powerful positions have most often been associated with men as opposed to women but as gender equality awareness increases, women within and without Kenya have started taking up more powerful positions in leadership and society.
One Kenyan lady has chosen to defy the odds and seek to show that women in Africa can make some positive impacts, not only in politics but also in the business sector. Her name is Tabitha Karanja, the Founder of Keroche Breweries Limited.
Tabitha wants to try her hand in the position of Senator for Nakuru City County. And already the ground has started shifting in her favor. As the 2022 countdown continues, Tabitha, just like all the other political aspirants, has been popularizing her policies at the ground.
Tabitha’s inspiration to run for Senate has emanated from the will to eliminate the structural and legal obstacles that hinder all girls’ and women’s participation in politics and decision-making and hold those obstructing them accountable. She also wants to give her people the resources that are rightfully theirs and as stipulated in the Constitution of Kenya.
Speaking yesterday in a meeting that brought together women from across the Nakuru City County, Tabitha stated that the essence of social development will be one of her key priorities if elected for the Nakuru Senatorial Seat.
She aspires to develop empowerment programs that will touch on women, youth, and persons with disabilities to ensure that they have equal opportunities to succeed. She also promised to legislate the laws favorable to them with passion and favor.
Tabitha’s drive in the political scene has never been witnessed before. This woman aspires to create equal opportunities for all and make Nakuru County the most business-friendly region in Kenya. She is also focused on bringing more investments to the county.
One cannot stop but wonder how this humble and striking iron lady emerged at the top of the business world.
Well, some would say beauty with brains but just to add on that, Tabitha did not come to joke. Her inspirational story is one of a woman who started small in business but dreamed big. She was determined, persevered, and eventually won the prize.
Tabitha reiterates that her goal will be to fully follow and adhere to the Constitution of Kenya to support, enhance and protect Devolution to its optimal level for the betterment of the people of Nakuru City County and Kenyans at large.
She added that in anything she will do while in office, three main principles will guide her. The principle of public participation, the Principle of the interest of the marginalized Kenyans (single mothers, widows, persons with disabilities, and other special groups), and lastly the principle of being responsible to the environment.
Tabitha Karanja has trodden the business world with a clear mind, a phenomenal force, and a mind of innovation. From leading one of the most successful companies in Kenya to helping farmers get a ready market for their farm produces.
Officially beginning her political journey now, she commits to elevating the voices of the women out there as well as the women-focused organizations in Kenya that are striving to leverage their expertise for change.
