We Need That Kenya That Exists In President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Head

On Tuesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta gave his State of The Nation address to the nation. Journalists are calling this his last address to the nation. You might think they have already asked the guy and he has told them so. But that is not the problem.

The Son of Jomo read one of the longest and most boring speeches in history. At some point, he got tired of reading it and told his audience that he was rushing and skipping some parts because he was tired. It was obvious he did not understand what he was reading.

We may have been directing our anger to the wrong person. It is obvious that the Son of Jomo reads what he is given. He is the innocent messenger who respects commands like a computer, garbage in, garbage out. The people we should be calling out are his speechwriters.

The speech started off like a eulogy, turned into a history lesson, marinated with kujipigia debe, settled to a motivational speech with quotes here and there, then went South with numbers that only exist on paper.

Anyway, dear Kenyans, to us the speech was given and all we can say is that we need to have that Kenya that exists in the speeches and the mind of our dear President of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta.

The Son of Jomo seems to be living in an amazing country flowing with milk and honey. Life must be so good in that country. Or maybe he is mistaking the beautiful life at Statehouse for that of Kenyans. Or maybe, tuko nchi ingine.

We need that country as soon as possible, or as Steve Biko Wafula puts it when he is giving instructions, we need that country ASAP. The sixth wealthiest country in Africa. A country that has peace, hardworking civil servants, and a prosperous one.

We need that country in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s speeches and mind like yesterday. A country with the most hardworking Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), with great revenues for Kenyans. A country where Kenya Meat Commission is making 1 million shillings daily.

We need that amazing country that the Son of Jomo talks about in many of his speeches within and without Kenya. A country that has no corruption, a country that nobody ever stole from COVID-19 victims. A country losing 2 billion shillings daily is a rumor.

We need that great country, that great Kenya that the President and his speechwriters live in. A country that has rich universities and none is shutting down due to corruption and massive looting of public resources. How I long for that country.

We need that amazing Kenya where mothers are no longer dying during delivery because we have Universal Health, we have Linda Mama, and NHIF that takes care of the poor.

We need that Kenya, the sixth wealthiest in Africa with a double-digit GDP. We need that Utopia, sorry, that Kenya… Ahh, it is already morning… It was a dream… Let me go look for a job.
