Teachers To Undergo Another 10-Month Training, Here is Why

Education Cabinet Secretary, George Magoha has announced a new 10-month training course for teachers who will be dealing with the upcoming Year 7.

This comes amid confusion over the introduction of lower secondary, which includes grades 7 and 8 and which forms the Competency-Based Curriculum (TAUT).

Speaking at Kapsabet Girls High School in Nandi County on Sunday, February 14, Magoha noted that the 10-month training will take place between the month of February and December.

According to CS Magoha, the three national examinations for Grade 6, Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) are ready for administration.

“Government is continuous and if I am not there, whoever will come to take over will find everything ready and our children will be safe. “We are leaving everything in a good state as far as our children’s welfare is concerned,” he assured.

During the visit, Magoha also asked all contractors to ensure that the 6,400 classrooms currently under construction are completed by March 7, 2022.

He noted that the courses should be completed in time to allow the national exams to be undertaken without any disruption. Magoha also revealed that money to cover construction and literary materials had already been set aside.

“We are targeting to build 6,400 CBC classrooms during the first phase which we shall complete on that stipulated time, and the second phase should start immediately after we finish marking exams which are about the 1st week of May.

“For Grade 6, everything is already in place. The books have been printed and distributed, teachers have been trained and all other materials that are required are ready,” he stated
