2 Women Arrested in Saba Saba with 6 Sacks of Bhang Headed for Nairobi

Two women were arrested on 8^th March, 2022 for drug trafficking and a consignment of Marijuana that they were ferrying to Nairobi impounded.

Caroline Mariwa & Nancy Wangare were ferrying over 6 sacks packed with stones of bhang from Busia, headed to Nairobi when detectives finally caught up with them. The product had been neatly arranged in a grey Toyota Wish, KBS 156S, being driven by one of the ladies.

Prior to their arrest, the duo had engaged Transnational & Organized Crimes (TOCU) detectives in a high-speed chase. The duo had taken the long Nakuru-Nyahururu-Nyeri-Murang’a highway.

However, detectives intercepted the vehicle at Saba Saba where they got arrested. They are currently being processed at DCI headquarters for arraignment in court.

Drug trafficking has recently become so rampant in Kenya. However, the government has put in place more stringent measures to curb this illegal business. It is not yet clear whether the two ladies were transporting the illegal weed on their own or they are just but errands.

In most scenarios, there have been cases whereby the real drug dealers lure the youth into transporting drugs around the country at a fee. They get some desperately job-hunting youths and give them an offer, them drag them into this risky business. However, when they are caught, nobody comes to their rescue.

The youth and the general public are advised to shun away from engaging in such activities. It is better to hustle like a school dropout than getting involved in life-threatening risks just to get some small money that will not even sustain you for a lifetime.
