ESPN And ESPN 2 Broadcast Highlights On GOtv And DStv

Viewers on DStv and GOtv can look forward to even greater sporting variety, with some thrilling action coming their way on ESPN and ESPN 2 from Friday 18 to Thursday 24 March 2022.

The first live-action on ESPN arrives on the evening of Friday 18 March and sees Rizespor host Trabzonspor for a Turkish Super Lig clash (19:00 LIVE on ESPN). The football action continues on Saturday 19 March with back-to-back EFL Championship clashes, as Derby County host Coventry City and Blackburn Rovers head to Reading (14:30 and 17:00 respectively LIVE on ESPN).

Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray recently celebrated five years in his position as manager and adds that he wants to take the club back into the top flight of English football.

“I think when the opportunity arose to join a club with an amazing history, I remember thinking back to playing against Rovers many times and remembering the passion and the emotion for football in this part of the world,” said Mowbray.

He added, “We want to push on and get back to the Premier League and that’s where we are in the journey. The ambitions of Blackburn Rovers are to get in the Premier League.”

Major League Soccer (MLS) also features strongly on the menu, with Saturday evening seeing NY City hosting Philadelphia Union (19:00 LIVE on ESPN), before the early hours of Sunday 20 March have Sporting Kansas City visiting Chicago Fire (00:00 LIVE on ESPN) and FC Dallas taking on the Portland Timbers (02:30 LIVE on ESPN).

Sunday also features a crunch game from the Eredivisie as Ajax welcome Feyenoord to Amsterdam for the latest edition of ‘De Klassieker’ (15:30 LIVE on ESPN), before more action in the evening from the MLS, as Columbus Crew face NY Red Bulls away from home (20:00 LIVE on ESPN).

ESPN will also feature the latest edition of its Africa Boxing series on Thursday 24 March (20:00 LIVE on ESPN), showcasing some of the best up-and-coming boxers – both male and female – from the continent.

The first action on ESPN comes from ‘Down Under’ and sees the Roosters take on the Sea Eagles in NRL rugby action (11:05 LIVE on ESPN 2) on the morning of Friday 18 March. The evening of the same day and the early morning of Saturday 19 March are then dedicated to NCAA Basketball, as games in Round 1 of ‘March Madness’ take center stage (18:00 – 06:00 LIVE on ESPN 2).

One of the major pieces of news ahead of ‘Match Madness’ has been the rise of Long Beach State under the guidance of coach Dan Monson, who famously left Gonzaga in the late 1990s after building an incredible team in Washington.

“One of my best years came so early in the career, you know, I didn’t appreciate it as much as I wish I would have,” Monson said. “But how lucky am I that I had it? So many coaches never have that kind of experience in their whole career.”

He added, “I never regretted leaving Gonzaga. Because if I would have stayed there, it would have never become the program it is now.”

There’s more NRL action on Saturday 19 March as the Cowboys host the Raiders (10:30 LIVE on ESPN 2), before Round 2 of ‘March Madness’ again features strongly, with games set to be broadcast from the evening into the early morning of Sunday 20 March (18:00 – 06:00 LIVE on ESPN 2).

Sunday morning then brings a third and final NRL game for the weekend, with the Broncos visiting the Bulldogs (09:10 LIVE on ESPN 2), before yet more Round 2 ‘March Madness’ action as games run through the evening and into the early morning of Monday 21 March (18:00 – 06:00 LIVE on ESPN 2).
