Shilling Weakens Further, Equity Turnover Drops 57%

KEY POINTS

Total equity turnover fell by 57.90% to close at USD 2.47 MN (KES 298.62 MN) compared to Friday's turnover of USD 5.87 MN (KES 709.23 MN).

Exchange Rate Performance

The Kenyan shilling weakened by 0.01 percent against the US Dollar to close at 120.86 (-6.83% year-to-date). The shilling, however, strengthened by 0.79 percent against the Pound to close at 135.62. It also strengthened against the Euro by 0.66% to close at 118.72.

Kenyan Stock Market

Total equity turnover fell by 57.90% to close at USD 2.47 MN (KES 298.62 MN) compared to Friday’s turnover of USD 5.87 MN (KES 709.23 MN).

NSE 20 fell by 0.54% to close at 1,667.75 and NASI grew by 2.22% to close at  129.13.

Foreign investors assumed a net buying position by accounting for 75.63% of total market purchases and 41.09% of total market sales.
