2022 KCPE Results Marks Break Down

The 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCPE) candidates recorded impressive performance compared to last year’s candidates, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has said.

More than 1.2 million pupils sat for KCPE. This is the highest number that the examination has ever seen, but that is not surprising because that number grows every other year. Speaking on Wednesday during the release of the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education results, Machogu said the top candidate scored 431 marks which was an improvement from last year’s 428 marks.

Female candidates performed better than their male counterparts in English, Kiswahili, and Kenya sign language, while male candidates performed better in Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Religious Education.

Pupils aged 12 years old and below declined to 31,494 compared to 33,000 last year. Baringo, Wajir, Kericho, Bomet, and West Pokot had the highest number of these pupils. On the other hand, Turkana, Garissa, Mandera, and Wajir counties had the highest number of male candidates compared to their female counterparts.

Candidates, their parents, and guardians can access the results through the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) website, SMS platforms, county education offices, and the respective schools.

For the SMS option, the candidates should send their index number, followed by the initials KCPE (in capital letters) to 20076 to access the results. The SMS platform is available for all mobile networks and will be charged 25 shillings each.
