TSC Extend Application Deadline For JSS Teachers, How To Apply

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has extended the application deadline For Junior Secondary School, JSS, teachers.

On 8th March, TSC reopened its online portal to allow primary school teachers with the required qualifications to apply for deployment to Junior Secondary Schools. In a notice, TSC indicated that the application exercise had been extended to Wednesday, March 22.

However, TSC has not disclosed the number of teachers set to be recruited in the next exercise. To address the teacher shortage in Junior Secondary Schools, TSC implored primary school teachers with requisite qualifications to apply for the positions.

“The Commission has extended the period of application for deployment to Junior Secondary Schools. The portal has been re-opened. Primary school teachers with requisite qualifications are encouraged to apply,” the TSC notice read in part.

Before the extension, TSC had closed the application exercise on Monday, February 6. According to TSC, teachers seeking to earn spots in Junior Secondary Schools must have attained at least a C+ mean grade at Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

They also ought to have at least a grade of C+ in two teaching subjects in KCSE. At least eight units in each of the two teaching subjects and must be serving as a primary school teacher under TSC,” the notice indicated.

TSC encouraged primary teachers to log into the commission’s online portal by filling in their details. The TSC further advised applicants to follow all the steps as indicated and attach documents as directed before submitting their applications for consideration. To apply, candidates will use the commission’s website via the link.

“The mapping process is continuous and verification is still ongoing to identify more teachers to be posted,” Macharia said.

Macharia was speaking when the TSC appeared before the National Assembly departmental committee on education and research. The commission distributed the teachers to different counties based on the number of classes.
