Super Petrol Goes Down By Ksh 5 After Pressure From Kenyans

After days of Kenyans threatening and calling on the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) to reduce the price of fuel in line with the global oil prices that have dropped, the Authority has finally announced a reduction of fuel prices in the latest review.

Super Petrol price has been reduced by 5 shillings, while diesel and Keronese have been reduced by 2 and 4 shillings respectively.

“The prices are inclusive of the 16 percent Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020, and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020,” said the Authority in a statement.

In Nairobi, Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene will now retail at 212.36, 201.47, and 199.05 shillings respectively. For those in  Mombasa, Super Petrol will now retail at 209.3 shillings and diesel at 198.41 shillings and Kerosene will now cost 195.92 shillings.

In Eldoret, Petrol will retail at 212.12, diesel at 201.65, and kerosene at 199.23 shillings; in Nakuru, petrol, diesel and kerosene will retail at 211.35, 200.88 and 198.46 shillings respectively.

Petrol

For Diesel’s landing cost, it decreased by 5.43 percent from US$873.42 per cubic meter to US$826.01 per cubic meter while Kerosene decreased by 6.63 percent from US$813.90 per cubic meter to US$759.93 per cubic meter.
