Christmas is here with us. As they say, I come once a year. Many have traveled to their rural homes to celebrate with their family and friends.

As you celebrate, here are 5 lessons you should learn today:

January is coming

It is only in Kenya where most people, having emerged out of Christmas, scream of the longest January in history. Mostly is because they are always broke after blowing all the money during Christmas. Enjoy but know that January is coming.

Share with those who don’t have

You can always make the next person smile through sharing. Life is not always smooth for everyone. It may be smooth for you but hell for the next person. If you have more than enough this season, share. This life has no balance. A simple gesture, like sending Christmas cards, can brighten someone’s day and remind them that they are not alone.

Nobody gets out of this life alive

Live and enjoy every day like it is your last day. This does not mean that you should blow everything you put your hands on including savings. No. It means to be good. Be kind. Strive to always be remembered.

Bea teachable

Do not be the only smartest in the room. You will never learn. Be silent. Speak less and listen more, and you will learn the deepest of secrets and knowledge. Remember, the most foolish in the room always appears wise by not talking.

There are only two true friends in life

Your money and your God. Nothing beats these two. Not even family. It comes at a time when even your kids will leave to start a life of their own. It comes a time when your phone will stop ringing, friends fade and families diminish. You will have nothing to fall back on but your money and God.
