More Than 50 Entrepreneurs Graduate From NCBA’s Entrepreneurial Program

More than 50 entrepreneurs graduated on Wednesday morning from Strathmore University in a program backed by NCBA Bank. This will see entrepreneurs who have been equipped with skills venture into different businesses across the country.

“SMEs represent 80% of businesses & employ 75% of the workforce. Strathmore School of Business equips business owners across sectors, contributing to our economy’s success,” Robert Kiboti, Director of Commercial and SME Banking said.

Speaking at the event, Tirus Mwithiga, NCBA Group Director of Retail Business Banking, encouraged the graduates to be resilient and use their creativity to grow their businesses. “Your determination shaped today’s success. Armed with new skills, you’re set for greater heights!”

According to the Kenya Institute For Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA), SMEs in Kenya contribute 40 percent to the GDP and employ over 14.9 million people. The partnership between NCBA and Strathmore has always been tailored towards sharpening skills for even more significant contributions.

“We’re expanding our support beyond SMEs and today we are thrilled to enhance our partnership with Strathmore University for the Owner Manager Program (OMP). The Owner Manager Programme is tailored for mid-sized East African companies. Eligibility: founders, CEOs, shareholders, or MDs of businesses with 5+ years, annual turnover of KES 50M+, and over 20 employees,” added Tirus.

This year, NCBA says it is committed to enhancing its customers’ skills to go beyond banking and investments. “In partnership with Strathmore, we’re offering courses for sustainable business management, ensuring they’re equipped to thrive for the long haul.”
