Lord Hezion Reviews The 85-inch Samsung QN85D 2024 TV

Kenyan tech reviewer and avid gamer Lord Hezion recently shared his in-depth review of the 85-inch Samsung QN85D, a standout model in Samsung’s premium mid-range TV lineup for 2024.
Known for his insightful and detailed tech reviews, Lord Hezion dives into his experience with the QN85D, highlighting the features that make it a must-have for gamers and entertainment enthusiasts alike. In his review, he also compares it to his previous Samsung Q60C 65-inch 2023 TV, showcasing the massive upgrade in performance and visuals that the QN85D delivers.
After moving into a larger house earlier this year, Lord Hezion was in search of a TV that could better complement his expanded living space and meet his passion for gaming. The 85-inch Samsung QN85D proved to be the perfect choice, paired with the powerful Samsung Q800D soundbar to create an immersive entertainment setup. As a result, Lord Hezion now spends a lot of his free time gaming on this new setup, taking full advantage of the TV’s high refresh rate gaming support, a feature his previous model lacked.
One of the QN85D’s most impressive features is its massive 85-inch display, which enhances gameplay with vibrant colours, deep contrasts, and sharp visuals. Whether it’s bright highlights or deep shadows, the Mini LED technology ensures that every detail pops, creating a truly immersive gaming and viewing experience. Lord Hezion also emphasizes the TV’s gaming features, such as the 120Hz refresh rate, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), all designed to deliver smooth, lag-free gameplay that’s essential for fast-paced, competitive gaming. The AMD FreeSync Premium Pro further optimizes frame rates, making gaming sessions more fluid and responsive.
Audio performance is another area where the Samsung QN85D excels. It features a 2.2.2-channel sound system that offers rich, immersive audio enhanced by Dolby Atmos for a cinematic sound experience. Paired with the Samsung Q-Symphony feature, which allows the TV’s speakers and the Q800D soundbar to work in perfect harmony, Lord Hezion’s setup ensures top-notch audio quality, making gaming, movies, and TV shows more engaging.
A unique feature that stood out to Lord Hezion is the solar-powered remote control, equipped with a microphone for voice commands via Bixby or Alexa. The remote can be charged through its solar cell using indoor or outdoor lighting or through the USB Type-C port for quick top-ups. This eco-friendly solution eliminates the need for disposable batteries, aligning with Samsung’s commitment to sustainability.
This year’s model also boasts improved AI capabilities, allowing users to customize picture settings for different types of content like movies, sports, and gaming. AI Intelligent Mode dynamically adjusts the picture quality on the fly, delivering an optimized viewing experience based on the content being watched. Lord Hezion did note some occasional stuttering in AI performance, especially when switching between content types. Additionally, the AI Upscaling feature ensures that content in lower resolutions like 720p and 1080p is upscaled to near 4K quality, offering a more polished viewing experience. With a Samsung phone, users can even fine-tune the TV’s colour calibration to suit their personal preferences, though Lord Hezion mentioned that the TV is already 95% colour-accurate out of the box.
In his YouTube review, Lord Hezion walks viewers through the unboxing and setup process of the Samsung QN85D, providing hands-on insights into how the TV performs across gaming, movies, and everyday viewing. With its Mini LED technology, stunning brightness, and top-tier gaming features like 120Hz refresh rate, VRR, and FreeSync Premium Pro, the QN85D offers a complete entertainment package that appeals to both avid gamers and film enthusiasts. Lord Hezion wraps up his review by encouraging viewers to participate in a giveaway by commenting on the video for a chance to win a Samsung gift hamper.
