An Affordable Telehealth Product For Kenyan Women Launched

Malipo Circles, in partnership with Britam, Inclusivity Solutions, and Sasa Doctor, has launched a groundbreaking Hospicash + Telehealth product designed to enhance access to healthcare and improve financial resilience for Kenyan women and families.

The launch, held in Nairobi, marks the beginning of a new chapter in community-focused health protection. For as little as Ksh130 per month, customers will receive Ksh1,000 per day for each night of hospitalization along with a weekly teleconsultation with a doctor. This affordable health coverage aims to empower women and their families, ensuring access to quality healthcare and medical advice in underserved communities.

The product also includes tele-education and annual health check-ups, ensuring proactive health management and support before customers become ill. The program will be delivered through Malipo Circles’ extensive network of over 10,000 chamas across the country. Malipo Circles is a digital financial platform designed to automate governance and facilitate social commerce within savings groups. It enables chamas to manage their finances, track contributions, and access tailored products such as this new Hospicash + Telehealth cover. The product is available on the Malipo Circles app.

Britam, a leading insurer, will underwrite the product, while Inclusivity Solutions will provide the digital platform to facilitate seamless distribution and claims processing. Sasa Doctor will offer telehealth services, enabling families to access medical advice conveniently from trusted healthcare providers.

As the country’s leading microinsurer, Britam brings scale and reach to the initiative, having insured over 4 million Kenyans through Britam Connect and commanding over 40% of Kenya’s microinsurance market.
