How NCBA Is Powering Growth In Eldoret: One SME At A Time

Something special has been brewing in Eldoret, and it’s not just the aroma from Neufoods’ freshly baked bread. It’s the quiet but powerful story of how local enterprises are transforming their communities, and how NCBA is walking that journey with them, shoulder to shoulder.

This week, NCBA’s Commercial & SME Banking and Branch Business teams landed in Eldoret as part of their nationwide SME engagement tour, following the success of a similar initiative in Migori.

This wasn’t just another corporate drop-in. It was a boots-on-the-ground mission to truly listen to customers, understand their growth journeys, and craft solutions that fuel their ambitions.

A brief about Neufoods Ltd. It is a mid-sized bakery and food processor that’s more than just a place to grab a bun. It’s a community pillar. Neufoods reaches over 6,000 households with its range of products and proudly sources its raw materials from local farmers and vendors, creating a ripple of economic activity that strengthens the fabric of Eldoret.

Since 2019, NCBA has been there, not just as a bank, but as a growth partner. From asset financing that helped Neufoods acquire crucial production equipment to tailored cash management solutions that streamlined their operations, NCBA has been behind the scenes, helping Neufoods scale smartly. The discussion with NCBA during this visit was about the next leap: growth financing and expansion plans that could put Eldoret’s homegrown bakery on a national, perhaps regional, map.

Next on the itinerary was Petercrest International School, Eldoret’s only international school and a rising star in Uasin Gishu’s education landscape. With over 300 local and 40 international students, Petercrest is shaping a globally aware, locally rooted generation. They’ve blended the CBC and IGCSE curricula, embedded sustainability in their strategic plan, and are championing mentorship programs with career talks and international exposure for students.

NCBA’s role? A robust suite of smart banking solutions. Salaried accounts for staff. Cash management systems. Seamless school fee collection via Soma+ and NCBA Till. And advanced digital integration through host-to-host systems that simplify operations.

How about Mace Foods Ltd? Another long-standing NCBA client known for exporting dried vegetables and chilli powder to Europe and Asia. It’s a reminder that Eldoret isn’t just a local hub; it’s an international player, and NCBA is ensuring the region’s SMEs are fit for the global stage.

According to NCBA, Eldoret’s activation is part of a larger bank’s commitment to be more than a lender. To be a trusted advisor. A partner. A catalyst.
