KUCCPS Announces Slots For Primary Teacher Education, How To Apply

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has issued an important notice regarding the availability of limited slots for prospective students wishing to pursue a Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE) at Eldas Teacher Training College, located in Wajir County.
The announcement, dated Wednesday, July 9, is part of KUCCPS’s ongoing placement process for the September 2025 intake.
In the official statement, KUCCPS disclosed that only a small number of vacancies are available at the institution, urging interested candidates to apply promptly through the KUCCPS Student Portal at students.kuccps.net.
The limited nature of the slots means that applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis until the available positions are filled.
“Course Alert: Diploma in Primary Teacher Education. Eldas Teacher Training College in Wajir County announces limited vacancies in its Diploma in Primary Teacher Education Programme for the September 2025 intake,” the notice read in part.
Minimum Requirements for Application
To qualify for the diploma course, applicants must have attained a minimum mean grade of C (plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). This requirement is in line with national standards for teacher training programs, which seek to ensure that all candidates meet the academic threshold necessary for entry into the teaching profession.
KUCCPS emphasized that the application window will remain open until Thursday, July 18, 2025, giving candidates a 10-day period to submit their applications online. Once the slots are filled or the deadline lapses, the portal will be closed for this particular course.
The announcement highlights the government’s ongoing efforts to expand access to teacher training opportunities across the country, particularly in historically underserved areas such as Wajir County. By offering teacher education programs in remote counties, the Ministry of Education aims to bridge regional disparities in education staffing and encourage local participation in the teaching profession.
Eldas Teacher Training College, though relatively new, has quickly become a key institution in the region, playing a crucial role in training future educators to serve in local primary schools and beyond.
The latest course alert follows closely on the heels of the release of placement results for the 2025 academic cycle by Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba. Speaking during a press briefing on Tuesday, July 1, CS Ogamba confirmed that more than 50,000 students who sat for the 2024 KCSE examinations had successfully qualified for placement into universities, colleges, and various technical training institutions across the country.
The announcement regarding Eldas TTC is part of KUCCPS’s continued effort to offer alternative pathways for students who may not have secured their preferred courses during the initial application round
Meanwhile, KUCCPS also reminded prospective students that applications for the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) September 2025 intake are still ongoing. The KMTC application window, which opened on June 24, targets students who were not placed during the initial KUCCPS cycle but are interested in pursuing courses in the medical field.
Applicants eyeing KMTC programs are encouraged to apply through the same KUCCPS portal before the stated deadline. The simultaneous application periods for both KMTC and Eldas TTC underscore the placement service’s strategy of offering a broad range of options to cater to the diverse interests and academic qualifications of KCSE graduates.
As the application window for the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education at Eldas TTC narrows, KUCCPS is urging all qualified and interested candidates to take immediate action.
“Vacancies are filled as applications are received. Do not wait until the last day. Log in to the student portal and submit your application now,” KUCCPS advised in its notice.
For more details and to access the application portal, candidates should visit students.kuccps.net. Those experiencing difficulties navigating the portal are encouraged to contact KUCCPS through its helpdesk or visit the nearest Huduma Centre offering placement services.
This initiative reflects the government’s broader commitment to equitable access to education and training opportunities, particularly in areas that have traditionally faced infrastructural and staffing challenges. By taking advantage of such targeted programs, aspiring teachers can play a critical role in shaping the future of education in Kenya’s underserved regions.
