I&M Foundation Marks Five Years Of Transformative Community Impact

The I&M Foundation celebrated its fifth anniversary with a milestone event at Strathmore University, spotlighting half a decade of significant contributions to sustainable development in Kenya.

Since its establishment in 2020, the Foundation has directed 2% of I&M Bank Kenya’s Profit Before Tax annually toward community projects.

Its efforts are anchored on four pillars: Environmental Conservation, Education and Skills Development, Economic Empowerment, and Enabling Giving.

At the anniversary celebration, the Foundation showcased flagship projects and inspiring impact stories, reinforcing its mission to create lasting positive change. Young Kenyans whose lives have been transformed through education scholarships and entrepreneurial training shared their experiences, including beneficiaries studying at Strathmore University and youth empowered through partnerships with The King’s Trust International and Asante Africa Foundation.

“For the past five years, we have worked diligently to invest in solutions that not only address immediate needs but also build long-term resilience and sustainability. Our strategic, on-the-ground partnerships allow us to amplify impact and ensure that our initiatives are truly community-led. This anniversary is a moment to celebrate our progress and a time to re-commit to empowering the communities we serve,” said Mr. Eric Kimani, Chairman of the I&M Foundation.

Mr. James Gaterae, Head of the I&M Foundation, emphasized the depth of the Foundation’s impact:

“The stories we’ve heard today are a testament to our philosophy that real change is deeply impactful. As we look ahead, we are committed to deepening our work in environmental conservation, equipping youth with future-ready skills, and fostering economic opportunities across Kenya.”

The event also spotlighted key projects such as Project Imarisha Ngong Forest, a multi-year partnership with the Kenya Forest Service to restore and develop the urban forest, as well as collaborations with the Palmhouse Foundation.

Over the last five years, the I&M Foundation has built a strong legacy of partnerships and community-driven initiatives, reaffirming its place as a catalyst for sustainable development in Kenya.
