Safaricom And LG Push For Smart Living Among Kenyan Households

Safaricom has called on Kenyans to capitalize on its affordable routers to embrace smart homes. The price of Safaricom’s 5G Wi-Fi router is currently at Ksh 2,999, down from a previous retail price of Ksh 11,000, and originally Ksh 25,000, as part of a broader push to make smart living more accessible to Kenyan households.

The announcement took center stage during a smart home experience hosted by Safaricom and LG at the Rhythm & Brunch festival on Saturday at Ngong Racecourse. The event, known for blending R&B nostalgia with a trendsetting crowd, offered festival-goers a hands-on glimpse into the future of connected living.

At the heart of the activation was a fully interactive smart home setup featuring LG devices, including TVs, refrigerators, lighting systems, soundbars, and gaming consoles, all seamlessly controlled via a single smartphone thanks to Safaricom’s high-speed 5G connectivity.

From customizing ambient lighting and adjusting air conditioning to managing entertainment systems, attendees experienced how the power of fast, reliable internet transforms everyday routines into convenient, tech-driven living.

“Connectivity shouldn’t be a luxury,” said a Safaricom representative. “We want more Kenyans to experience what it means to live in a smart, connected home.”

The router, which supports up to eight devices simultaneously, is now available through all Safaricom Shops, Quickmart outlets nationwide, and online via Masoko.com. The price cut underscores Safaricom’s commitment to accelerating digital inclusion across Kenya.
