Equity Celebrates Customers, Offers Insurance & Financial Literacy in Nationwide Roadshows

Equity Bank’s visit to Nairobi’s Kawangware estate during the 2025 Customer Service Week offered residents and traders a chance to explore business opportunities, sharpen financial literacy skills, open accounts, and access affordable loans.
Through its roadshow dubbed Endeleza Biashara, the bank also toured other markets across the country, including Ongata Rongai, Githurai, Kongowea, Karatina, Maua, Kisumu, and Nakuru, aiming to empower customers and communities.
Equity Bank Kenya Managing Director, Moses Nyabanda, who launched the nationwide roadshows, expressed gratitude to customers for their trust and loyalty, acknowledging that the bank’s success is tied to its customers. “At Equity, we are where we are because of our esteemed customers. We will continue being closer to them through regular engagement,” said Nyabanda. He emphasized that Customer Service Week is not just a celebration but an opportunity to gather feedback that will further improve service delivery.
Nyabanda also highlighted Equity’s commitment to supporting businesses and connecting them to new markets across East and Central Africa. “To the business community, we are ready to walk with you and connect you to new markets in East and Central Africa, including the DRC, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Uganda. Our partnership with you enables us to give back to society in a bigger way. Beyond transforming lives, we’re now more focused on helping you create wealth and protect your health and assets through our insurance solutions,” he added.
In Kawangware, customers shared testimonies of how the bank has supported their financial growth and transformed their lives. Rehab Wangui, a vendor at Kawangware market and an Equity Agent for 15 years, said, “Equity has been supportive to us, our families, and our communities. I remain an ambassador of the bank for its friendly service and agenda to transform lives.”
Stephen Tyson, another customer, narrated how a Ksh850,000 loan from Equity, secured in just three days, became a turning point in his life. “I used the money to build rental units, which have changed my life. I now drive and run small businesses here in Kawangware,” he said.
In Ongata Rongai, the roadshow started at Kware market, with Equity staff visiting customers at their workplaces to reaffirm the bank’s commitment to powering their aspirations. The staff also toured Githurai Cereals Market, Kongowea Market in Mombasa, Karatina Market, Maua Market, Uhuru Market in Kisumu, and Nakuru’s Wakulima Market. Kajiado Sub-County Administrator Samuel Muchiri praised Equity’s customer-centric approach, lauding the bank for achieving excellence by putting customers first and offering innovative products.
Ruth Muthoni, Chairperson of Kware market, appreciated the support offered to micro and small entrepreneurs. “When the bank opened here in Ongata Rongai, we were happy and joined as members. The bank listens to us and supports us during tough times,” she said.
Ezekiel Mum, a young entrepreneur from Bee Farmers Hub, shared how he was supported in scaling his business. “When we started, we were producing 100 beehives a week. We took a loan for machinery and equipment, and today we produce 1,000 beehives weekly. Our revenues have increased substantially,” he said.
Equity’s efforts in promoting financial literacy were applauded by Dagoretti Deputy County Commissioner Solomon Murage, who highlighted the impact of the bank’s partnership with the Kazi Mtaani program. “Equity Group Foundation trained youth in prudent budgeting, debt management, borrowing, and investment, transforming financial habits in the area,” said Murage.
Mary Mungai, Nairobi East Regional Manager, encouraged customers to protect their wealth and health through insurance products. “Your health is your wealth. It is wise to take insurance so that if difficulties or accidents happen, you are not left frustrated,” she said.
