Duncan Kivuitu Retains Title In Thrilling Minet Golf Tournament Showdown

Duncan Kivuitu delivered a standout performance to successfully defend his title at the Minet Golf Tournament, posting an impressive 46 stableford points to clinch the overall winner’s prize at Karen Country Club.

Playing off a handicap of 18, Kivuitu not only retained his crown but also improved on last year’s winning score of 43 stableford points, navigating the course with composure and precision to top a closely contested field.

Speaking during the prize-giving ceremony, Kivuitu expressed his delight at the back-to-back triumph, noting the progress in his game over the past year. He attributed his success to strong ball striking and a composed short game, particularly on the greens.

“Defending this title at Karen Country Club is an incredible feeling, especially seeing the improvement in my game from last year’s 43 stableford points to 46 stableford points,” said Kivuitu. “While my drives and second shots felt solid, the real difference was on the greens.”

He added that the scarified putting surfaces demanded a tactical approach, prompting him to focus on chipping close to the pin to leave manageable putts. Kivuitu also praised the course conditions and the camaraderie among players, which he said contributed to a memorable outing.

Men’s Category

The men’s competition proved intense, with Alex Gachanja finishing just one point behind the overall winner after carding an excellent 45 stableford points to take the Man Winner title. Eric Kinuthia followed closely in second place with 42 points, while Renato De’Souza claimed third place with a solid 40 stableford points.

Ladies and Industry Categories

In the ladies’ category, Mary Mbataru of Muthaiga Golf Club emerged victorious after returning a strong score of 40 stableford points. She edged out Faith Macharia, who finished as runner-up with 38 points.

The Industry Winner accolade went to Felix Ochieng, who posted 40 stableford points to secure top honours. Anthony Kiragu finished close behind with 39 stableford points.

The tournament once again lived up to its reputation as a highly competitive and well-attended event, showcasing strong performances across all categories at one of Kenya’s premier golf courses.
