KUCCPS Announces 36 KMTC Programs for Form Four Leavers, How To Apply

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has released detailed information outlining 36 Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) courses available for the current intake, alongside the minimum academic requirements for prospective applicants.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, January 13, KUCCPS confirmed that the opportunities target Form Four leavers who attained minimum grades of C (plain) and D (plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

The move is aimed at widening access to medical and allied health training, particularly for candidates who may not have met the cut-off for degree programmes but still qualify for certificate and diploma courses.

According to KUCCPS, the 36 programmes are spread across certificate and diploma levels, offering learners a wide range of options within the healthcare sector. At the certificate level, applicants can apply for courses such as Community Health Assistant, Health Insurance Management, Health Records and Information Technology, Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nursing, and Medical Emergency Technician.

Other certificate programmes available include Medical Engineering, Nutrition and Dietetics, Orthopaedic Trauma Medicine, and Public Health. These courses are designed to equip trainees with essential practical skills required to support healthcare delivery at the community and institutional levels.

At the diploma level, KUCCPS listed several popular and highly competitive programmes, including Clinical Medicine and Surgery, Community Health, Community Oral Health, Dental Technology, Emergency Medical Technology, Health Counselling, and Health Insurance Management.

Additional diploma courses include Health Promotion, Health Records and Information Technology, Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, and Kenya Registered Nursing and Midwifery.

The placement service further announced diploma slots in Kenya Registered Nursing, Mental Health and Psychiatry, Medical Engineering, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Social Work, Mortuary Science, Nutrition and Dietetics, and Occupational Therapy. These programmes prepare graduates for specialised roles within hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and community health settings across the country.

On minimum entry requirements, KUCCPS clarified that the criteria vary depending on the specific programme. While some courses require a mean grade of C (plain), others accept candidates with D+ (plus) or D (plain), provided they meet the relevant subject requirements.

However, the placement service noted that all the listed courses, except Mortuary Science, require applicants to have scored at least a C– (minus) in English or Kiswahili and Mathematics at KCSE level.

The courses will be offered across numerous KMTC campuses nationwide to enhance accessibility. Among the campuses listed are Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Embu, Kakamega, Nyeri, Machakos, Meru, Bungoma, Garissa, Kitui, and Homa Bay, among others.

KUCCPS advised all interested candidates to submit their applications exclusively through the official KUCCPS student portal at students.kuccps.ac.ke. Applicants have been urged to apply promptly, as the application window will remain open for only 14 days and is expected to close on January 27, 2026.

The placement service encouraged eligible candidates to carefully review the course requirements and campus options before submitting their choices, noting that early application improves the chances of securing a preferred course and training institution.
