The Following Regions To Experience Rainfall In The Next Five Days

The Kenya Meteorological Department has indicated that while much of the country will continue experiencing predominantly sunny and dry weather conditions over the next five days, several regions should prepare for intermittent rainfall.
The forecast, which covers the period from Tuesday, January 20, to Saturday, January 24, suggests that the weather pattern will be largely stable but with notable variations in certain parts of the country.
In its weekly weather report, the department revealed that some counties, particularly in the central, western, and coastal regions, are likely to receive occasional rainfall, especially during the early part of the week.
Counties such as Nairobi, Mombasa, Kiambu, Kisumu, Baringo, and West Pokot, among others, are expected to experience light to moderate showers at different intervals between Tuesday and Wednesday.
Additionally, the weatherman warned that strong Northeasterly to Southeasterly winds, exceeding 25 knots, are likely to be experienced in coastal and northern counties, including Mombasa, Marsabit, and Turkana. These strong winds may affect maritime activities along the coast and could also cause dust storms in arid and semi-arid areas.
More intense weather activity is anticipated in several counties in the western and Rift Valley regions. According to the forecast, rains and showers accompanied by thunderstorms are expected to affect counties such as Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot throughout Tuesday and into Wednesday afternoon.

After this period, the weather is expected to clear up, giving way to sunny conditions for the remainder of the week. During this rainy spell, temperatures in these counties are projected to range between a maximum of 31°C and a minimum of 7°C, particularly in the highland areas where cooler nights are expected.
Meanwhile, Nairobi and neighboring counties, including Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi, will largely experience sunny conditions over the five days. However, residents in these regions should remain cautious as there is a possibility of afternoon showers on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to reach 29°C, while minimum temperatures may drop to 7°C, especially in higher-altitude zones.
In the eastern and southern parts of the country, including Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties, as well as the inland areas of Tana River County, sunny and dry weather conditions are expected to persist throughout the week. These regions will likely experience warmer temperatures, with highs of up to 32°C and lows of around 14°C.
Along the coast, counties such as Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale, together with Tana River County, are forecast to remain sunny and dry during the period under review. Daytime temperatures in these areas are expected to peak at 34°C, while nighttime temperatures will remain relatively warm at around 23°C.
In the northern and northeastern regions, including Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties, residents should expect continued sunny and dry conditions over the next five days. The Kenya Meteorological Department predicts very high daytime temperatures of up to 38°C, with minimum temperatures of around 16°C.
Similarly, Turkana and Samburu counties are expected to experience mainly sunny conditions during the day, with partly cloudy skies at times. Temperatures in these regions are also forecast to reach a maximum of 38°C and a minimum of 17°C.
